David Letterman Says Someone Attempted to Extort Him Over Affairs
During a taping of his late-night show on Thursday, David Letterman said he’d had affairs with female employees and had been targeted by someone trying to extort him over the relationships, says the Associated Press. Letterman said he’d received a threat to either pay $2 million or chance having the news of the affairs come to light, says the AP. The AP reports that while testifying, he acknowledged the sexual relationships with his staff members. "My response to that is, yes I have," Letterman said. "Would it be embarrassing if it were made public? Perhaps it would. I feel like I need to protect these people. I need to certainly protect my family." A CBS spokesman said: "Letterman's comments on the broadcast tonight speak for themselves."[Read full story on The Insider]
