Arnold Schwarzenegger Offers Condolences to Fess Parker's Family
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is mourning the Thursday death of actor Fess Parker. Known for his portrayal of iconic television characters Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone, Parker passed away of natural causes at the age of 85, reports The Associated Press. Schwarzenegger told "The Insider," "Fess Parker has been a role model and idol of mine since I first saw him on the big screen -- he is a true Hollywood legend. As a talented actor and successful businessman, he was an inspirational Californian whose contributions to our state will be remembered forever. As we reflect back on a life lived to its fullest, Maria [Shriver] and I send our thoughts and prayers to Fess' family, friends and loved ones." The actor moved from Texas to California in the 1950s to pursue a career in acting. Parker's family owns and operates a winery in Santa Barbara County.
