David Letterman's Extortionist Gets Early Release from Jail




TV producer Robert Halderman, 51, was released from prison today after serving only four months of his six-month sentence for attempting to extort David Letterman out of $2 million. Halderman was released on good behavior from Rikers Island in New York, and has been ordered to do 1,000 hours of community service and is on probation for five years. "He's doing okay," Halderman's lawyer told People.com. "He was fine and expressed appreciation and he is glad it is behind him and that he survived it well and he's looking for work. He's a talented producer." His lawyer said that his client is looking to return to TV. "Yes that's his strength and [in] his field there are plenty of people who have had rocks in the road and got past it and went on to lead [a] meaningful life, and I expect that will happen in his life."[Read full story on The Insider]
